You know how Sapphire’s future vision had one singular path until she fused with Ruby? After that, Garnet saw multiple paths a situation could end in. What I’m saying is, if Ruby affected Sapphire’s future vision by fusing with her, wouldn’t Pearl fusing with Garnet make the future vision much more different??

What if the reason Sardonyx breaks the fourth wall so much, is because of her future vision? So the thing is, Pearl fusing with Garnet makes the future vision boarder the vision part of it. That means Sardonyx notices and realizes that people are watching her as a cartoon character.

She knows that we are watching her for entertainment. She also made the audience aware of the her being off air if they didn’t buy some more Steven Universe products and such, but she doesn’t know for sure if she’s going to be off air because it’s still a future vision with multiple paths.

This is probably the reason Sardonyx is not very serious at all. After all, she’s just a cartoon character for others’ entertainment, so what does she do? She tries her best to entertain the audience and be a cartoon character.

However, I do think Sardonyx’s future vision is shortened in the world she’s in. She didn’t realize that Smokey Quartz could of broken down into a laughing fit about how much of a failure they are. Sardonyx’s ego and narcissism brought this about and she only realized this when Smokey Quartz kept making jokes about themselves. Sardonyx probably forgets that even she is a cartoon character that she still isn’t the main part of the show.

TL;DR: Sardonyx has a different type of future vision that allows her to realize she’s a cartoon character and the show could go different directions. She keeps forgetting she’s not the star of the show and makes mistakes because of this fault. Probably also the reason she’s not serious like Pearl or Garnet.
